Fractal Generator

Fractal is a software utility that can generate multiple types of Mandelbrot and Julia fractals. The fractal generation can be combined with existing images in all or part of the generated image space. The fractal color palettes can be animated. Text and images can be added over the images post creation for fun effects. Fractal is also a COM EXE server and once registered can be used in scripting languages as a programming object.

File New - There are 3 types, Mandelbrot, Julia, and Buddhabrot. Mandelbrot and Julia have a few varieties.

Each kind brings up a configuration screen similar to

Width, Height, Colors, and Iterations control the size, colors, and number of iterations before bail out is determined. The more iterations the more detail. 4096 is the max.

A Scale, B Scale, Bailout, and Mode control the calculation of the fractal. Mode is 1-4 and controls bailout testing. Bailout and Scale are scalars in the fractal function.

Coordinate Range is the rectangle of the X and Y plane where the calculation occurs.

Interesting Coordinates will have preset rectangles to look at

Step and color are an interesting stair stepping effect

Base color and Fractal color radio buttons control how colors are applied to the solution space and outside the solution space. Angular Decomposition is a custom mathematical filter that has a spiraling beach ball effect

Trap X and Y are orbit trapping which can have interesting effects

Background Images can be blended with the solution and outside solution space. To have one image that blends with everything just use the same image twice. Otherwise interesting effects can be created by just blending an image with the solution or outside solution space.

Color Inclusion, Scaling, Drop Unused, and Sort Orbits control colorization. Sort Orbit sorts the colors as the apply the orbit frequency. Gradient enables the interior color buttons and all color buttons allow setting a color that controls the palette.

Gamma Correction is the effect to make a digital image resemble a physical photograph.

When viewing a fractal:

Drag Rectangle controls what happens when you hold the left mouse button down while dragging across the fractal. The rectangle can zoom you in or be the place where you insert text or an image.

To make a 3d model for printing use file save as and choose the STL file type. Models can be loaded in many commercial and free viewers.
